There is no fear in love!

HopeSeed School, Ecuador

Due to political unrest, fear is rampant in Ecuador, ranging from the elderly all the way down to the youngest children. Read about how God’s love, shown through the staff and students at HopeSeed School, conquered the fear that little Sofia* faced.

As a two-year-old, Sofia arrived to her first class full of fear. She was terrified to let go of her mother, and she cried constantly—only stopping to take a short nap. Each teacher took time with her. Maybe it was because they were tired of her tears, or maybe it was because their heart led them to make her feel more at home, but the students each took turns playing with her. It didn’t take long before little Sofia felt safe and loved. Everyone worked together so she would be okay, and she began to feel at home.

After spending time at HopeSeed School, the teachers began to see how Sofia’s emotions had changed. Her mother would say, “She asks about all of you, and she wants to go to ‘La Escuelita’ (‘The Little School’) on the weekends.”

For little Sofia, love conquered all. For her to overcome her fear, it not only took the love of her teachers, but also the aides, fellow students, and whole school community.

There are many vulnerable children around the world, like Sofia, who do not yet have the opportunity to attend a school where they will experience Christ’s love and be encouraged to become all God intends.
