What Is GTEC?
GTEC Launches
Recently in March, GTEC Riverbend launched in a creative access country in East Asia. One leader says it was “an exciting and memorable event to mark the next step in our objective to impact not only our nation, but also our region and the globe.” This launch continues an exciting time in TeachBeyond as Global Transformational Education Centers (GTECs) aspire to contribute uniquely to the movement of education as missions. GTEC Riverbend is one of 3 GTECs that have launched over the past 3 years.
What Is a GTEC?
As GTECs are beginning to launch throughout the world, what is their mission and vision? While seeking to establish educational services around the world, TeachBeyond values embracing the beauty of each culture. GTECs live out this value by aiming to cultivate shared experiences, promote partnerships, and connect like-minded individuals. Simply put, a GTEC is where global vision becomes local mission.
When looking for GTEC locations, places that are known as hubs for activity stand out. This allows TeachBeyond’s global mission to become tangible in local settings, bringing together learning, community, and leader development that equips educators and leaders to deliver transformational education. From hosting events and building partnerships to mobilizing resources, GTECs are committed to equipping and sending leaders from everywhere to everywhere.
GTEC Flavors
Each GTEC that launches comes with its own focus, or flavor. As previously mentioned, the vision is to celebrate the culture while cultivating shared experiences. While the goal is the same, the outward expression looks different in each location:
Gramado
Launched in 2023 in conjunction with TeachBeyond Brazil, GTEC: Gramado aspires to focus on seminary training and higher education as well as camps and other informal education.
Johannesburg
Operating more fluidly regarding location, GTEC: Joburg launched in South Africa with a focus on equipping the under-resourced.
Riverbend (pseudonym)
GTEC: Riverbend focuses on entrepreneurial, business-minded mission strategies as well as how to minister effectively in partnership with the local church in creative-access contexts.
Looking Forward
As these GTECs continue to grow and serve, we look forward to sharing more stories of the ways they are impacting their nations! As one leader says, “I am excited to see how the Lord will use each GTEC for His glory.”
